Building a brand new outdoor gear experience

Cache_Seven is the hub for both guides and new recreationalists—an ecommerce experience that’s searchable by location, terrain and activity, with first-hand recommendations from pros who rely on the gear when it really counts.

Our challenge was to inspire outdoor enthusiasts of all levels to do their research and get the right gear before venturing into a new couloir, estuary or wave. Channeling the firm but encouraging voice of an outdoor guide was key—your best chances at a good time are in their hands, so you better listen up.

Creating cohesion amidst hundreds of brands

We created a clean and flexible modular design system to reflect order and cohesion for the growing list of brands in Cache_Seven’s ecommerce experience. The wordmark—a cache device that opens and expands—frames the outdoor experience in vibrant photography.

Cache_Seven’s goal is to be the quietly confident platform that amplifies thousands of other voices. Drawing inspiration from marks and movement in nature, we designed a series of patterns representing snow, rock, water, bark, grass and topography. A collection of custom icons guides Cache Seven’s audience to their activity of choice and has room to grow with the expanding activity list Cache supports.

Passing the mic to the pros

Cache_Seven’s goal is to be the quietly confident platform that amplifies thousands of other voices. We developed a launch marketing strategy introducing a cohort of core guides to establish immediate trust with their community, while giving a preview of the expert perspectives they’ll find in the Cache_Seven website and content. Our goal was to evoke relatability and respect, going behind the scenes in each guide’s life and the hard work they put into their calling from season to season.

Evergreen assets for audience onboarding

With two core audiences to build connections with—guides and recreationalists—we created a series of evergreen marketing assets to introduce Cache Seven’s unique platform and help both user groups gain the most from their ecommerce experience. A branded Guide Onboarding Deck sets the pros up with best practices and art direction tips to document their regional intel and makes it easy to start generating income through Cache Seven recommendations.
